XI: Thou shalt not be indifferent

Mr. Marian Turski, the world-renowned historian, journalist, and until his recent passing, president of the International Auschwitz Committee, takes us back to the roots of evil. A survivor of the Lodz Ghetto, Auschwitz, Buchenwald, and Theresienstadt death camps in his youth, Turski explains with firsthand knowledge and surgical precision how otherwise well-educated and cultured people can, under certain circumstances, turn into criminals and mass murderers. He reminds us about the painful past, explains the present, and warns about the future. His dramatic plea, "do not be indifferent!" remains more relevant now than ever. Andrzej Wolf, the director and cinematographer of this film, pays a loving tribute to one of the last moral compasses of the Greatest Generation.
