Explorer Lucy Shepherd crosses remote Tanzania on foot alongside an Indigenous team, where survival among hyenas, elephants and lions depends on Indigenous knowledge. 'Secret Africa: Into the Wild' follows British explorer Lucy Shepherd as she self-films whilst she undertakes a high-risk, on-foot expedition across remote regions of Tanzania alongside an Indigenous Hadza and Akie team. Moving through thorn forest and open Savannah, the expedition takes place in territory shared with some of Africa's most dangerous wildlife. Hyenas stalk camps at night, elephants come out of no where, and prides of lions hunt across the same land the team must cross on foot. With no vehicles and limited supplies, every decision carries consequence. The team face real physical and environmental pressure, the series reveals a rarely seen Africa and exposes the true realities of modern exploration. Episode 1 Explorer Lucy Shepherd begins a world-first expedition across remote Tanzania with a team of indigenous hunter-gatherers. After a challenging introduction to their nomadic way of life, the expedition begins - but the first mountain quickly tests the entire team. Episode 2 Crossing misty elephant-filled forests and harsh drylands, the expedition team struggle as food runs low. Lucy attempts to harvest wild honey and is swarmed by killer bees before the group reach Hadza territory for a brief resupply. Episode 3 The team enter the Serengeti where lions roam freely and danger is never far away. With water running out in the highlands, their final challenge awaits - climbing an active volcano to complete the expedition.
