Parent Pitch

Parent Pitch is a heartfelt emotionally packed comedy about children's football written by Jodie Potter. It's a reflection on what children's football has become and the joy that it should bring. We follow Katrina (Jodie Potter) and Coach Mike (Paul Dawkins) who are hilariously obsessed with getting their son scouted and their daughter noticed for her performing arts talents. Does it matter that their son Shaney can't kick a ball for his life and would prefer to play with Pokemon cards? Not to this quirky duo who are described as being more like children's TV presenters than football coaches, what with Katrina's obsession with Richard Gere, and mad outfits. Along with Mike's love of Shakespeare, insisting on wearing a fur coat oozing class and sophistication, they are a couple who really are just desperately trying fit in. Rival coaches, competitive parents, a loner scout, a fed up ref, and a mockumentary style camera man following the whole journey. The story also finds room for more moving moments, especially as Shaney struggles with low confidence until his dad and the scout step in to lift him up. Meanwhile, romance also blooms between the scout, played by Paul Cooper and the head teacher played by Dee Taylor-Thompson. It will appeal to all age groups and will appeal to anyone who has lived and breathed grass roots football like Katrina and Mike do.
